Workshop Policies

Terms and Conditions

These guidelines establish the expectations and agreements when commissioning bespoke tailoring or garment alterations from Needle & Chalk. Our primary focus is ensuring the highest standard of craftsmanship for your garments.

1. General Service Terms

All tailoring and sewing work is subject to these terms. By leaving your garments at our workshop, you agree to our service standards and the estimated timelines provided during your initial consultation. We commit to executing every stitch with precision and care.

2. Bespoke Tailoring

Commissioning a bespoke piece is a multi-step process requiring measurements, an initial fitting, and ongoing consultation.

  • A deposit is required before any fabric is cut or sourced.
  • Final adjustments are included in the bespoke process to ensure a perfect drape.
  • Major design changes requested after the fabric has been cut may incur additional costs.

3. Garment Alterations

We request that all pre-worn garments brought in for alterations be freshly laundered or dry-cleaned. We reserve the right to refuse unwashed items to protect our sewing equipment, specialized needles, and our clean workshop environment.

4. Turnaround and Collection

Standard alteration timelines vary depending on the complexity of the stitch work. We will notify you once your garments are pressed and ready. We ask that completed pieces be collected within thirty days of the final notice to keep our racks clear for incoming tailoring work.

5. Policy Inquiries

If you have specific questions about our workshop policies, fabric sourcing, or turnaround times, please reach out to our tailors directly.
